Sometimes I send more bands (Archive #3)

[Archive #3--Originally sent May 9, 2006]

The bands I can vouch for:
Travis: http://www.myspace.com/travismusic or http://www.travisonline.com/ . I've been a fan of this band for a really long time now and forgot to mention him. I'm sure you've all heard of him, but just in case, he's fantastic. His myspace songs aren't near as good as the the songs on their albums...but if you're going to listen to one of those then listen to Blue Flashing Light

Brendan Benson: http://www.brendanbenson.com/ . Once you click enter it launches a pop-up player. This guy was recommended to me by the music loving Gregorius and I give him all credit for this find, and a fantastic one it is.

Colin Hay: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=30538035 . Everyone knows this man as the former lead of "Men at Work". His sound has progressed a bit but the great unique voice is there as well as the acoustic guitar. I encourage you to listen to all of his songs on the link.

Sean Na Na band: http://www.myspace.com/seannanaband . All I can say is Indie, no other classification for them. But real good sound. Listen to "Can't get a Spark" first.

The Rosebuds: http://www.myspace.com/therosebuds . Indie/rock/pop (whatever that category means). These guys are probably more up Bright Eyes category. Listen to "Shake Our Tree" first.

Missy "not misdemeanor" Higgins: http://missyhiggins.com . Recommended to me by Brad and Amy, so all props to them. Real good sound, definitely recommend her.

The bands that are new to me but I like the initial sound:
Monte Montgomery: http://www.myspace.com/monte_montgomery . Fantastic acoustic guitar player, great riffs, worth a listen.

The Slip: www.theslip.com (has player) or http://www.myspace.com/theslipmusic . Lemonheads (from It's a shame about ray album) meet an artist from Wes Anderson movies. They had a hit called "Love and Tears" that was pretty good but haven't much else from them since.

Timesbold: http://www.myspace.com/timesbold . folk/indie. Some interesting music here...listen to " when i come around" first and you'll get a good taste of their style. If I had to relate them to anyone it would be Iron and Wine, but I hold Iron and Wine in a high category and they don't touch them...literally and figuratively.

Tahiti 80: http://www.myspace.com/tahiti80 . I don't even know how to explain this band's sound except that they are a combination of the disco era and Indie Rock. If that won't get you listening than I don't know what will. I don't know if I like this band or not but I am attracted to their interesting sound. By the way they've been around since 93 so you guys have probably heard of them....i think i might have heard of them a while ago and not liked but now that the 70's haircuts, staches and clothing is back, I'm in.

Damon Aaron: http://myspace.com/damonaaron . Pretty good potential but he's quite mellow and mellow and Tyler don't always roll together unless it's Ben Harper mellow, and this guy isn't Ben Harper style mellow, but he's decent. He also completes my circle of eclectic music cause I don't just like one style.
